Although Little Boy got us into POAs in 1999, we didn't start showing him until 2002. However, we did show Superdot Rocket. We bought Rocket in 1996 and he was too much to handle. He was trail ridden around our farm but he was hyper and hard to control. We took him to our local Saddle Club for a friend to run in Games. When he ran a 17 second Barrel pattern, I decided he was worth keeping. When we bought him, we didnt know he was a game pony who hadn't done much else. I started showing him in the TNPOAC and decided I hated it. Rocket was too fast for all the pleasure classes. Then it was time for Games and I changed my mind. He smoked the competition! I wanted to do all-around so i started working with a trainer, Pat Blackburn. Together we got Rocket to slow down a little, put his head down, get the right leads, etc. After a year, Rocket and I started to place in other classes besides games. And after two years we were winning other classes. Rocket proved to be the best pony in the world.

In 2000 we learned that he knew how to drive so we hooked him up to cart and started driving him. Eventually Rocket found his niche in the showring. Games, Pleasure Driving, Hunt Seat, and Western Riding were classes that he easily won or placed high in. He placed at the State, Regional, and International level in these classes as well as others. He was the 2001 State 4-H Champion in Jr. Pleasure Driving, 2nd in Pony Western Pleasure, and 3rd in Pony Barrels, among other placings. He is just one example of how versatile POAs are.

In 2001 he was the National High Point Pleasure Driving Pony in both the Youth and Adult divisions. He was also #5 in Medium Halter Geldings. He has many High Point Overall awards in the TNPOAC, making a clean sweep in 2001 in the 13-18 division. Rocket's accomplishments go on and on. To celebrate all he has done, he was featured on the front cover of the May 2003 POA Magazine. In a basic summary, Rocket started showing at the age of 19. In three short years, starting at the age of 19 and finishing at the age of 21, Rocket achieved his ROM in Timed Events, Non Timed Events, and his POA ROM. He only lacks 3 Grands in Halter to become a Supreme Champion! This pony is one in a million! He is currently in retirement, but still loves to run.
